I’ve not been to a conference league match in years, but all that changed on Saturday when I went to see Dagenhamat home to Exeter, with my mates Nick and Gary. Here they are discussing fixtures
The day was kind of what you’d expect from a January fixture in the East’s Zone 5. Cold but actually quite good chicken pies, watery tea, friction amongst the stands(for the record Dagenham had by far the more creative cusses, thanks to a particularly colourful 7 year old) and a 4-1 defeat for Exeter. A little bit more added drama came in the form of a bottle we had launched at us from the Dagenham fans as we left.
Onto other authentic East End experiences and the incredible jumble sale that takes place every few months at St Joseph’s Hospice on Mare Street in Hackney. ![]()
There’s one this Saturday, February 3rd 10am- 2pm. You’ll be able to see it from space the queues are so long (but don’t let that put you off they go down really fast). You can get anything and everything there, records and books, clothes, toys, Star Wars figures - and it’s all for a great cause.
Fi.
